Mormon Genealogy
Mormons or, in other words, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are very serious about genealogy (family history). The reason is that they believe in performing vicarious works for those who have passed on before us. For example, they would like everyone who has ever lived on the earth to have a chance to be baptized and confirmed a member of their church. That is why church members are encouraged to seek out their ancestors to help them have this valuable opportunity. In temples, vicarious ordinances are performed for these ancestors. The ancestors have an opportunity to reject or accept the works being done for them.
