File Boxes

Each person should have their own file box for genealogy.  This makes it easier to store new information.  For example, if you get an award or certificate, where will you put it?  If you have a file box already assigned for genealogy, your job is that much easier.

The other factor about the file box is that it is easier to see the information; at a glance.  Without the box, you may search all over the house to get all the information on a particular person.  This is inefficient. That is why it is important to put all of the documents in one easy to find source.

You should have a file box for each child and each parent in the household.  Ideally, you will also have a box of information on grandparents and those that have passed on.  This makes it easy for children to get to know their grandparents.
